Half the day waiting....

                                  Mount Washington Valley

Well, today I got to spend half of my day waiting at the mall for my husband's computer to be repaired.  Several weeks ago he took his computer to the Apple store at the mall and had them look at it because the fan was making this horrible noise.  They told him they had to order the part and that they would call him when it came in. (a couple of days)  Well a couple of days turned into several weeks.  Today my husband called them to see what the hold up was for the part and are you ready for this??  They told him the delay was because the factory where they made the fan was in the Szechwan province in China and the earthquake caused the delay!  I'm thinking no wonder the freakin fan didn't work!!  That's what it has come too, everything is made in China and it's all crap!  So, I drove to the mall with my husband and his computer and we dropped it off to have the new (cheap fan) installed and we were told it would be at least 3 hours before it would be ready!!!  We had lunch and then we walked.....and walked.......and walked around the mall.  I bought some books and window shopped oh yes and I had to tell the perfume and lotion peddlers to back off.  We finally settled ourselves on a bench and waited it out.  We got to the mall at around 12:30 pm because it took 2 hours to get there and we left at around 4:00 pm, my day was not over, because I still had to drive home in the traffic which was heavier than usual because of Labor day weekend!  We just got home and I have accomplished nothing today except waiting around for a cheap fan to be installed.  I suppose if there was an Apple store closer to my home and if the parts were not made in China today would have been a much better day.  Well....tomorrow is another day and since I have no plans I will get everything I didn't get done today finished tomorrow.   Happy Labor Day everyone!

Last night Andre and I attended the Board of Selectmen's meeting in our town.  The meeting was set to address whether or not the town would accept our street so we can receive town services such as plowing in the winter etc.  The hold up has been that the builder for this development has not completed the road the way the town has requested.  We have lived in our new house for 2 years now and we have yet to see them complete the road; it has been paved but paved poorly.  Several of our neighbors were at the meeting last night as well and Andre even called the builder to remind him of the meeting as a courtesy.  The meeting was well underway when Tom the project manager who was in charge of building our homes meandered in. (Late of course.)  He immediately suggested that the board give him the remainder of the monies being held in a trust for the road so he could see to it that the road was finished as promised.  Kudos to our Board of Selectmen who nixed that idea right off!  This builder has no clue how to run his business and they had no intention of giving him anything.  Needless to say the board did approve our road and the town is going to fix the road the way it should be by using the monies left in the fund provided by the builder there-by kicking the builder to the curb and ending any more involvement by them.  We are very happy to have this behind us now and we can finally say we are truly integrated into our new home town!  For those of you who have not yet seen my new house, I have posted a few shots of my kitchen, bedroom, dining room, and porch room, for you to enjoy.
On a different note, Andre had his wounds checked and he is healing beautifully!!  He feels a whole lot better and has even felt stronger. (well enough to argue anyway!)  I think he is looking forward to NOT having me drive him everywhere the most!  I'm telling you it's like driving Miss Daisy!  He complains about everything I do!  I think I will have to start carrying duct tape with me so I can curb his enthusiasm for complaining.  I figure if he is seat belted and taped to his seat with a large piece of duct tape over his mouth it will be a much nicer ride for me!

Today was a good day.....

                                                   Busta

                                                                Oreo

Today Andre saw the cardiologist and had his stitches checked.  There is no sign of infection and everything looks great!  Although walking is still very painful, the Dr checked Andre's hip and basically the muscles are wrecked and bruised from the procedure and time is the only thing that will make it better.  As with all surgeries, time is the key to healing and Andre is going to have to practice his skills with patience and give himself time to heal.  Today was a good day and so begins the next week of healing.
On a lighter note, I should be finished with the closet tomorrow!!  I had to go and buy some more containers to store stuff in and tomorrow I should have them filled and stored and I will be ready to move on to the next project....the office closet!  Hard to believe but I actually miss work.  I will be returning on Sept. 5th and I am looking forward to it.  I have to take Andre to the Dr again tomorrow so I am going to drop him off and then go to my workplace and drop off some treats for my co-workers.  Just a little thank you to them for working my hours while I take care of Andre.  It's nice to be appreciated and I do appreciate them.
Your probably wondering about the photo's I posted.  Our friends Ron and Dottie have a very cute dog named Busta and their son Scott has a new dog named Oreo.  When we visited them the other day, I got to meet Oreo for the first time.  He is an adorable little guy, still just a puppy.  I've posted pictures for all you dog lovers out there.  My girlfriend Lorrie has a new lab puppy named Ella, she is VERY cute too and when I see her next, I will take a picture of Ella to share.  The first time I met her, she was running all over the place and so happy to meet everyone!  She is going to be a big girl when she grows up!  I will be calling Lorrie this week and making plans to get together.  So stay tuned for another adorable photo.
I'll have a dog one day, but now is not the time.  We work all day and don't have the time to spend training a dog and I think it is unfair to leave a dog home alone all day.  We have talked about it and once we retire we will have plenty of time to spend with a dog.  We will check out the pounds and find one to adopt, maybe two!

A morning with friends

                                                                   Ron and Dottie

Andre was feeling like a visit from friends so we invited our long time friends of 30 years Ron and Dottie over for breakfast.  I decided to go all out and make a southern style breakfast cause Ron loves to eat!  I made cowgirl casserole, buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, fresh fruit with whipped cream, and blueberry coffee cake.  It was an awesome breakfast!
I think we will be getting together for a foliage drive in the near future, we discussed it and Andre will be planning a route that will offer some great views with a few stops thrown in for fun.
Andre is still having trouble walking but he is able to move his arm better today; he settled himself for a nap after Ron and Dottie left and I think it will do him some good.  I am more concerned about him falling because of the pain he is having in his leg so I have a tendency to  hover over him as of late.  He has another visit to the heart Dr on Monday so I will be sure he gets a check on that leg, but if I forget....not to worry he has ANOTHER visit Tuesday to his primary Dr!  I've been very busy driving to and from the Dr and the pharmacy!
My closet is almost done!  I bought some stuff to better organize it so I am currently going through the husbands stuff and then putting it all to rights once more.  I will be happy to be finished with it and moving on to a less complicated project.  Never let it be said that I am not keeping myself busy!
My daughter Sabrina just told me that she is coming for a visit with my grandsons on Sept. 27th.  A friend of ours is getting married and she is coming so she can attend the wedding with me.  One of her school friends will be here as well and they will be going to King Richard's Faire in Carver Ma.  that same weekend.  I'm hoping they take lots of pictures to share cause I know they will have a great time.  I am looking forward to seeing my grandsons and my daughter and even though it will be a short visit we will make the best of our time together.  Andre will still be healing but he should be well enough to do some things with the boys.  He loves spending time with them and of course......spoiling them.

What was I thinking??

                                                          Hot air balloon festival

Okay....so I got started on my closet today.  What was I thinking!  I had no idea that I owned so many things that I never wear.  Don't even get me started on the shoes!!  Add to this my husbands stuff and I am up to my neck in stuff!  Needless to say THIS project is going to take me more than a day!  I've moved my dresses and other stuff that I don't wear as often to the upstairs closet with my rennie faire costumes as for the rest I will have to make a trip to goodwill this weekend so I won't be storing this stuff for all eternity!
My next project is moving all the furniture and cleaning my wood floors.  I keep telling myself how happy I will be when I get all these projects done!  Even as I sit here typing this I am looking at the windows and they need to be cleaned too.  Well I guess the bright side is that I won't have to do this again till the spring!
On a different note, Andre is doing okay.  He is VERY sore and today he got a look at the bruising and other stuff from his surgery.  He has a huge bruise on his thigh from a monitor they inserted into his femoral artery during his surgery.  He has a lot of pain walking and has some numbness in both legs.  He has some skin damage from the tape they used to hold his bandages but he says that doesn't hurt as much as his arm where the new defibrillator and leads where placed.  His wound looks great no sign of infection so all things considered, he is doing well.  He has been working from home and when he quits for the day he is exhausted, I told him he needed to take it easy for a few days but..........he is a man after all!

A little something extra.....

                                                                Isaac and Noah

                                                           Madison       Haley       Emma

I received my photo of my granddaughters today so I thought I would share it with you.  They are so cute in the outfits that their other grandmother made for them!  I have added a photo of my grandsons as well (sorry Sibi I sort of borrowed it) and I have to say that they are two VERY handsome lads!  I am bless to be the grandmother to these little cherubs.......

There is a first time for everything.....

The Old Man in the Mountain

Well....Here I am!   I'm blogging!!!   I have to thank my daughter Sabrina for this new undertaking.  I have been reading her blog and that of my friend Kare and I figured why not??
I decided that I would use my blog to keep in touch with those who want to keep up with the comings and goings of us and our family.  I will be posting photo's of the family, especially those of my grandchildren here as well as telling stories and sharing events as they happen.
I suppose the first bit of news I could share is that my husband has recently had some surgery.  He is doing fine but as with all surgeries there is some recovery time involved.  I work for a great police dept. and my co-workers are awesome.  I have been able to take some time off to care for him while he recovers and it seems like thank you is not enough.  Since he has been told that he can't drive for 2 weeks, I have become the taxi driver as well as the head nurse.  He has several Dr's visits and trips to the lab for blood work and tests lined up so I will be busy.  So far he has been a star patient but after a couple of days of not being able to lift anything or drive himself, I am sure he will start to complain.  I can't blame him, it is hard to depend on others to do things for you when you have always been able to do them for yourself.  Once he is able to do more for himself he will be MUCH better natured.
Since I have to be home for the next two weeks I'm going to spend time getting some things done around the house.  I have a closet that needs to be organized in the worst way!  I'm sure I will be finding lots to do while I'm home so let the games begin!!
