After we visited our son and his family in Milan, we all piled into our cars and headed to Plainfield, Indiana to visit our daughter and her family.
We spent our first weekend in Indiana visiting the State Fair and celebrating Isaac's 5th birthday. We got to spend time with all 6 Grandchildren during this time, and we loved it!
Our first night there was friday, the girls made s'mores and we enjoyed an evening relaxing and unwinding with wine and fun.
Saturday we went to the fair and it was a VERY hot and humid day. We did pretty good considering the heat. Andre has had some issues with swelling in his legs which gets worse with this type of weather so we had to slow the pace a bit. This was our first time to experience the fair and we were not disappointed! From the moment you arrive you are encouraged to EAT! We enjoyed the BBQ pork sandwiches and the roasted pork sandwiches, yummy! The lemonade was in high demand and was very refreshing. The kids dined on homemade corn dogs which were delicious! There were a variety of treats too, fried snickers, chocolate covered bacon, fried oreos, you name it, they had it! We saw some really nice cows, they had velvety coats and won ribbons. We got to ride the John Deere tractor around the fairgrounds too. Madison and Isaac did the tractor pedal pull and they did very well!! The kids got to go to the play farm and plant veggies, feed the animals, and reap the rewards of their labors. We ended the day earlier than we wanted, Andre was not enjoying himself once his legs started hurting. We did have a good time and we want to do it again, Andre is getting his issue taken care of and next time we will enjoy it for a longer time.
Sunday was Isaac's birthday party, and there was cake and fun for all! We had hamburgers, and hot dogs on the grill, and Transformers cake for dessert! We enjoyed watching the kids do a pinata which the grown ups had to help with in the end but there was candy for all! My son Nick was a highlight too, he just a big kid, and when he starts rough housing its a free for all!
I've posted a few pictures of the weekend, hope you enjoy!

We recently took our vacation, and traveled to Ohio, and Indiana to visit our Grandchildren. We got to see our daughter Jennifer, and her fiance Ron in June so we have been fortunate enough to be able to visit with all of our children, and Grandchildren this year.
Our first stop was our son's house, all four of our little Granddaughter's were thrilled when we got there. We spent our first night unwinding, and just enjoying the girls, we were amazed how much they had grown since we saw them last October when Sophia was born.
Sophia surprised us the most, she has gotten so big! She is 10 months old now, and I'm guessing she will be walking very soon! She is just as sweet as she can be, giggling, and smiling all the time.
The twins Emma, and Haley, are really talking now, and they each have their own unique personalities. Emma is the thinker, and the calculator, and Haley is a total diva princess!
Madison is very independent, and helps out with her sisters a lot. Maddy loves to run, and play hard, she is the athletic one. She enjoys beating her Daddy at Wii bowling too!
We took the girls for ice cream our first night there, the town my son lives in is very quaint, and you can walk everywhere.
We enjoyed a night out to dinner with Amber's Parents, Kare and Fernando, at a great Italian place. The food was really good, I had an excellent veal marsala, and some very tasty stuffed mushrooms! After dinner we enjoyed some ice cream at a local ice cream parlor.
We managed to do a lot of things while we were there, we visited the playground where I managed to get in touch with my inner child. We took the girls bowling, and we all had a great time. We explored the Prehistoric forest which was featured in the movie Tommy Boy, they did some filming outside of the park. The girls had a blast checking out the dinosaurs, and the kooky house! We visited the Mon Ami Winery where we picked up some fabulous wine, and enjoyed a very tasty supper. We drank so much wine at dinner, they gave me 2 wine glasses to bring home! I should clarify, I had a glass of wine, and Andre, and Fernando had 3 bottles of wine! Kare and I got to drive home, and once we got there, they had some tequila!
I posted some pictures of our time with our son, and his wife, and our Granddaughters. We had a really good time, and enjoyed our time with our son, and his family.
