As I write this, there are still 14,000 people with no electricity and the storm was 9 days ago. When the storm finally ended, there was devastation all over the state and over 400,000 people had no electricity. The holidays are here and the tempers are high as those still without power are angry and tired of waiting to get their lives back on track. We were fortunate, because we never lost our power, and we have not had to deal with the struggles that others have had to endure. I took some pictures in my neighborhood the morning after, I did not venture out far because the roads all around us were closed and impassable. We were able to go to town for gas and groceries, but going to work was an adventure and required almost 2 hours to get there because of the detours caused by closed roads. The people of New England are a hardy bunch, and we deal with whatever the storm gods throw at us, but there are times when you just wonder what the hell you ever did to deserve this? Those still without power should have it back before Christmas, and in the extreme cases some will have to wait until after the New Year. The timing could not have been worse but the silver lining? It could have been worse.
